Manual Sort for Board View Within Lanes
Friday, September 11, 2026
What it is
Drag and reorder cards within a lane in board view, not only between lanes. The order you set is shared with everyone on that view and persists.
Why it matters
Inside a pipeline stage the order of records carries meaning. Manual ordering surfaces the highest-priority deal or most urgent ticket without bending a sort rule to do it.
The Take
Small, and the kind of small that removes a weekly irritation. Board view could already sort by close date or amount or create date, which is useful right up to the Monday morning where the ten deals in a stage need to be in this week's order for reasons no property captures — a structured reason and an unstructured one, and next week a different order.
The frustration named on air is that it appears to be either/or: automatic sorting or manual arrangement, not a default you can override case by case. That is the version most people actually want, and its absence is the sort of gap that reads as arbitrary from the outside.
It is a small instance of a bigger pattern worth watching in your own portal. When configuration cannot bend to a real working rhythm, people do not file a request — they export the data and manage it in a spreadsheet, and you lose the reporting, the audit trail and the shared view all at once. Every bit of flexibility like this is worth more than its size suggests, because of what it prevents.
