What it is
Registration is open for an official Microsoft SharePoint and OneDrive app for HubSpot. It attaches OneDrive and SharePoint files, folders, sites and document libraries to CRM records, creates customer folders automatically as records move through a pipeline, and uploads or links files through workflows.
Why it matters
Your team's documents live in Microsoft 365 and your customer context lives in HubSpot. Connecting the two keeps the right files with the right records without tool-switching or hunting for the current version.
The Take
Microsoft historically has not played nice with HubSpot for a while. I mean, I think it goes back to several years ago when they kind of blew up the Outlook connector. And that's created challenges for teams, I think, ever since.
The most strategically interesting thing on the board, and the obvious question is why this took until September 2026.
Two honest answers. The first is competitive: Microsoft owns Dynamics, and the history here is not warm — the Outlook connector being reworked years ago created problems teams have been living with ever since. The second is the one that actually changed. Every software company now understands that if context cannot be unified, AI does not work. Keeping the doors shut stopped being a moat and started being a liability, because people route around a closed door with an API and an assistant anyway.
The migration angle is where this earns its place this week. Moving a portal usually means deciding what to do with every attachment, PO, drawing and scanned document hanging off a record — and the standard sync from a legacy CRM will not bring them. If those files can live in SharePoint or OneDrive and simply be linked to the company, contact or deal, you have removed one of the heaviest parts of a migration rather than solving it.
The second bullet in HubSpot's own announcement tells you they know exactly who they are talking to: create customer folders automatically as records move through a pipeline. A company record has always been the customer folder — this just makes the metaphor literal.
The thing to watch is the data model seam. Contact-and-company is not how most other systems model a customer, and any connector at this level has to reconcile that without pushing everyone into custom objects.
