Campaign API: Cloning and Asset Type Endpoints

Marketing HubProfessionalEnterprisePublic beta

What it is

The Campaign public API now supports four new endpoints: list all asset types associable to a campaign (including custom objects), clone a campaign and its associated assets by providing a campaign GUID, list which assets within a campaign are eligible to clone, and check the status of an in-progress cloning operation.

Why it matters

The Campaign API previously couldn't match what users could already do inside the HubSpot app, forcing developers to jump between docs, the portal UI, and endpoints to retrieve data and make requests. These endpoints close that gap and enable end-to-end campaign management, including cloning, without leaving the API.

The Take

I read API updates differently now. What it actually means is AI can do this for me if I have it connected.
Chris Carolan

I have never cared about API product updates. I don't identify as a developer and never have. But I read these differently now that AI connectors and MCP exist, because "developers get full control" doesn't mean I need to be a developer anymore. It means AI can do this for me if I have it connected. That phrase is technically correct today, and I expect it to get more inclusive as more of us route through an AI connector instead of writing the call ourselves.

What actually excites me here is campaign cloning. Clone last quarter's webinar and its assets instead of rebuilding it from scratch, or worse, tracking it in a spreadsheet or a project-management tool outside HubSpot entirely. That is real work moving into the place where the assets already live. The fact that there is a cloning-status endpoint tells me this is not instant, and I want to know how deep it actually goes. There are roughly 28 asset types you can associate with a campaign. How many of those are actually clonable? Is this a full clone of everything from last quarter's campaign, or a partial one I still have to finish by hand?

If you are a Marketing Hub Pro or Enterprise team that runs repeatable campaigns, quarterly webinars, recurring launches, this is worth a look now, especially if you have an AI connector wired to your portal. If you don't touch APIs directly and don't have a connector set up yet, there is nothing to do here today beyond noting that campaign templating is coming.

FAQ

Does this touch my portal?

Only if you're on Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise and either build against the Campaign API directly or use an AI/MCP connector that can call it on your behalf.

How do I get it?

It's public beta now on the Campaign public API — the four endpoints (list asset types, clone campaign, list clonable assets, cloning status) are in the API reference. No in-app toggle is needed since this is API-only.

What do I do next?

If you run repeatable campaigns like quarterly webinars, test cloning one and see how many of your asset types actually come along — full asset-type coverage isn't specified, so verify what clones and what still needs rebuilding by hand.
