Configurable CRM Cards in the Sales Extension
Monday, September 14, 2026
What it is
Admins can now choose which CRM cards show in the HubSpot sales extension sidebar, what order they appear in, and which properties show inside each one. That can be set separately for email views (Gmail, Outlook) and for prospecting views like the Chrome extension. Two things are not configurable yet: the task card is fixed at the bottom, and the deals-on-this-email-thread card cannot be changed.
Why it matters
This is a public beta aimed at a specific, long-running pain point: getting the sales extension sidebar to actually match what a rep needs when they live in their inbox. Joshua named it his pick for the show, and the reason is personal, he has watched teams build workarounds, extra automation, data stashed in fields it does not belong in, for years just to get something to show up in that sidebar because HubSpot could not reach parity with Outlook on its own.
The Take
keep your tools where you work. You don't put your hammer in the refrigerator.
Joshua called this one his pick, and the reason is the history behind it. Getting the sales extension sidebar to feel like HubSpot for a rep who lives in Outlook has never worked cleanly, and you usually do not win the argument to move them off the tool they already trust. So the workarounds pile up, automated workflows, data parked in fields it was not built for, all just to make something visible in that sidebar. This beta is a real step toward putting any object there instead of settling for what the card gave you. Keep your tools where you work. You don't put your hammer in the refrigerator.
