What it is

Manage email tracking per contact with a new consent record for each email address in the CRM. Public Beta, last updated October 15, 2026, for all hubs and tiers.

Why it matters

Updated guidelines from Italy's Garante and France's CNIL require explicit consent before tracking emails. Admins get a practical way to manage consent per email address, and that consent directly governs tracking behavior for marketing and one-to-one emails.

The Take

Overall, happy to see the options here expanded.

Chris picked this one for me, and it was going to be my pick anyway. You can now manage email tracking per contact with a consent record on each email address in the CRM, and that consent governs tracking for marketing and one-to-one emails. It comes from updated guidelines in Italy and France that require explicit consent before tracking.

I just had a conversation about this earlier in the week. There was an email from HubSpot a couple of months ago about the Italy and France consent requirements, and this expands the options, which I was happy to see. Trisha Merriam wrote it down as something she was going to share with a couple of people as soon as we were done.

Chris took the long view. If you have heard him wish that teams would take ten or twenty percent of their email energy and put it toward something like LinkedIn, this is the kind of energy he means: everything that goes into the infrastructure behind consent for a channel that keeps getting harder. Trisha pushed back that this assumes people are only sending cold email. There are a lot of businesses with subscribers who asked to hear from them, and it is still vitally important that they adhere to consent. Both of those are true, and this update is for the second group.

Who should act: admins with contacts in Italy or France, and anyone who wants a per-address consent model for email tracking. Who can skip it: teams that do not track email opens and clicks at all.
