What it is

You can now manage pipeline object tag definitions via a public API. Tags defined through the API are applied automatically to records that match the configured criteria.

Why it matters

Managing object tags in bulk or through external tooling has not been possible until now. This API gives you a way to integrate tag management into your own systems and workflows without requiring manual configuration. Note the version constraint: the API is available only in the 2026-09 API version and later, and the documentation is visible once you are enrolled in the beta.

The Take

Chris Carolan

It's one of the more sneaky complex things in HubSpot, buried in settings land and not connected to any of those things.
Chris Carolan

This one is sneakier than its name. Pipeline object tags sit in settings, next to scoring and segments, and are not natively connected to any of them. That is what makes them powerful and also what makes them easy to underestimate: the payoff only shows up once you know which pieces to combine, and where each one applies.

The combination is the real work. Segments versus properties versus scores, used together to drive tags and associations, is a lot of moving parts to hold at once. What you get at the end is a board view that reflects how a team actually thinks about their pipeline, which is usually what people wanted in the first place.

Worth flagging the constraint before anyone plans around it: this lives only in the 2026-09 API version and later, so it is a migration question as much as a feature. Joshua Oakes is the one to walk through it properly, and he is back on the show Monday to do exactly that.
