What it is

Affirm and Klarna are coming to HubSpot checkout as flexible payment options. Buyers pay in installments through either provider while you receive the full payment upfront. If your business qualifies you will see them as payment methods under Settings > Tools > Commerce > Payments, and you can switch either one off if you do not want buyers to see it. A 5.99% processing fee applies to every Affirm or Klarna transaction, plus a platform fee of 0.5% on HubSpot payments or 0.75% on Stripe. This is the broad checkout rollout, and it spans Sales, Marketing, Service, Content, Data and Commerce Hubs from Starter through Enterprise.

Why it matters

Buy-now-pay-later is table stakes for a lot of higher-ticket commerce, and the buyers who abandon a cart over a single large charge are exactly the ones installment options bring back. Getting paid in full upfront while the buyer pays over time removes the usual tradeoff for the seller. Do the math on the fees before you switch it on, though — 5.99% plus the platform fee is real money on a large order, and that is the number to weigh against the conversions you expect to recover. Worth knowing there are two of these. A separate private beta already has Affirm and Klarna working on payment links only, for US merchants, regardless of tier. This one is the wider checkout rollout still to come.
