Manual meeting syncing and enhanced meeting creation in the Sales Extension for Google Calendar

What it is
From your HubSpot sales extension in Google Calendar, you can now manually sync meetings into HubSpot as well as define HubSpot associations at the time of meeting creation.
Why it matters
Previously, if a meeting did not sync into HubSpot automatically from your calendar, maybe because the contact did not exist in HubSpot, you had to go into HubSpot to create that contact in order to trigger the event syncing into HubSpot. Now you can manually tell HubSpot to sync in a meeting through your Google Calendar.
The Take
Joshua Oakes
The orphaned instance of a recurring series is exactly where calendar sync always breaks.
Read past the headline to the limitations HubSpot lists, that's the real story here. Cancelled meetings, private meetings, and meetings with no HubSpot association still won't sync. You still need at least one contact, company, deal, ticket, or custom object attached before this works. And if you manually sync a single instance of a recurring meeting, HubSpot only logs that one event, not the series. That second limitation matters more than it sounds. The actual breakage almost never happens on a stable weekly meeting, it happens on the orphaned instance, the one week you moved the time, split off a new invite, or someone rescheduled. That's exactly where calendar sync has always fallen apart, and it's not fully solved here yet. What this update does fix is the everyday annoyance of digging through HubSpot for a meeting that never showed up and manually recreating it from scratch. That gap closes today. Watch the recurring-series handling as this moves toward public beta, HubSpot says support for syncing multiple instances is coming before then.

FAQ
Does this back-fill meetings that already happened?
No. It's a manual sync option for a meeting going forward from your Google Calendar sales extension, not a retroactive import of your calendar history.
Will a cancelled or private meeting sync?
No. HubSpot explicitly excludes cancelled meetings, private meetings, and any meeting with no association to a contact, company, deal, ticket, or custom object.
If I sync one instance of a recurring meeting, does the rest of the series sync too?
Not yet. Only that single event gets logged. HubSpot says support for syncing multiple instances from a series is coming before this exits private beta.
