What it is

When you preview a task, you now see a dedicated Notes card where you can view and edit task notes directly. The card appears automatically in the task preview with no setup: go to CRM > Tasks, hover over a task, click Preview, and click into the Notes field. Changes save automatically. Live for all hubs and tiers.

Why it matters

Editing task notes used to mean leaving the preview to open a separate modal, an extra step that broke the flow for a quick update. Now you edit notes right where you are already looking.

The Take

Ryan Ginsberg

Are tasks objects now? Kind of. They do not have their own record page yet, but they have custom properties and all that good stuff, and this is literally a property called task notes. It is not a feed of notes, not a record, not an entry or an association, which is why it was worth clicking on. Notes are an object in HubSpot that are often found in or around tasks, and this is not that.

Read it as a Band-Aid on a core feature. Tasks are big, HubSpot released Work at UNBOUND with a whole task management system around it, and there is probably a disconnect between how the task object was built and how people use it. The one thing of I just need to update something is the quickest fix to get over the hump for adoption. There has to be more coming. The generous read, sitting next to Work on Tasks with Breeze Assistant on the same day, is that this is the Breeze scratch pad: a surface Breeze can read to understand what happened last time without creating a pile of new records. The only reason continuous note-updating fields were a bad idea is that humans are bad at them, and you cannot track who changed what and when.
