Payment Plans for standalone, one-time invoices

What it is

<p>Merchants can split an outstanding invoice into up to four scheduled installments, collected automatically after the buyer completes checkout on the first payment. The full balance stays on one invoice record and each installment is tracked and charged independently.</p>

Why it matters

<p>The common workaround was repurposing subscriptions as payment plans, which fragments receivables across records and misrepresents revenue. Payment plans keep the full balance on one record with a clear schedule for both sides.</p>
