Premium Engines in the AEO Tool: Claude, AI Mode, and AI Overviews
Wednesday, October 14, 2026
What it is
Premium Engines is a new setting in the AEO tool. When it is on, tracked prompts also run through Claude, Google AI Mode and Google AI Overviews, alongside ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini. Results from all six engines count toward the overall brand visibility score. Private Beta, last updated October 13, 2026, for Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise.
Why it matters
Brands could only be tracked in three engines before, but buyers also use Claude, Google AI Mode and the AI summaries at the top of Google results. Turning this on shows whether your brand appears in each of those three, giving a fuller view of where buyers find your brand and where they don't.
The Take
Please do not approach this tool from a push button get cookie perspective.
Casey's reaction on air was that this is where she is almost always interacting with AI, and "if anyone wanted to see if they were showing up for Casey Hawkins, they need this premium pack." I agree that you should look at it. My caution is the one from office hours yesterday: please do not approach this tool from a push button get cookie perspective. The level of complexity on that surface right now is insane. Turning it on also means a lot more tokens flowing for HubSpot, so go in on purpose.
Here is the part to understand. AI Overviews work differently from the other engines. Not every prompt triggers one, because Google decides when to show it, so your AI Overviews visibility is calculated only from the prompts that returned one. Across six models, the non-deterministic gap is different for each. The closest comparison is when Apple iOS started auto opening emails and sent you open rate data that was not true. You had to switch to trend analysis instead of trusting the percentage. Do the same thing here: watch the trend, and do not go hard on a percentage being up today.
Zach's point was that this is the SEO days all over again, with a secret recipe nobody fully knows, and part art, part science. I would add that some of this is inevitable from how AI works, not a thing anyone hides. Rising citations in HubSpot do not necessarily mean AI is using your link to recommend your brand. It may have used your article to research and then recommended someone else, and that still shows up as citing you. And it takes so much work to become a trusted brand that AI defaults to it from the training data. Just don't start creating articles yet based on the button that asks if you want to create an article.
Who should act: Marketing Hub Pro or Enterprise teams already tracking prompts, once it reaches your portal. HubSpot lists it as a Private Beta, and we do not know when any given portal gets it. Who can skip it: anyone not tracking AEO prompts yet; get that foundation first.

FAQ
What does Premium Engines add?
Per HubSpot, when the setting is on, tracked prompts also run through Claude, Google AI Mode and Google AI Overviews, in addition to ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini. Results from all six engines count toward your overall brand visibility score.
Who gets it, and when?
Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise. It is a Private Beta, last updated October 13, 2026. HubSpot has not given a date for when a specific portal gets access, so check your AEO tool settings.
How should I read the numbers?
Treat them as trends. On the show, Chris explained that Google decides when to show an AI Overview, so that visibility is calculated only from prompts that returned one, and that results are non-deterministic across all six models. His comparison was Apple's auto-opened emails distorting open rates, where the answer was to watch the trend.
