What it is

HubSpot's video share pages now show the video's title, description, chapters and a searchable transcript next to the player. The previous share page showed only the player. The new design applies to share links created after your portal is ungated; links already created and sent keep the old design. Videos inserted into marketing emails after you opt in use the new share page automatically. Public beta on Content Hub, Marketing Hub and Service Hub Professional and Enterprise.

Why it matters

The share page is often the first thing a prospect or customer sees when you send them a video, and it is where recipients land when they click a video in a marketing email. Until now that page was a player with no title, description or controls. With chapters and a searchable transcript, viewers can see what the video is before they press play, jump to a chapter, or click a transcript line to go straight to that moment, which makes longer content like demos, interviews and webinars easier to watch.

The Take

Chris Carolan

The old share page was a player and nothing else, and it was awkward. Now the title, description, chapters and a searchable transcript sit next to the video, and you can jump to a chapter or click a transcript line and land on that moment. Two things to know before you turn it on. The new design only applies to share links you create after your portal is ungated, so anything already sitting in a customer's inbox keeps working the way it did. And the title is now forward facing, which means the file somebody named final final v2 is about to be read by a prospect. Clean up your titles before you opt in.

This is the stuff that gets missed when a video tool starts life as a file repository and then becomes a sharing surface. It brings HubSpot video up to the experience people expect from Loom or Vidyard, and it matters most when you are also creating the video inside HubSpot, because you no longer have to put it somewhere else to share it well. Every Another Orange Morning video you watch on our site is served from HubSpot, and embedding them has been easier than we expected, with none of the advanced-video limits we thought we would hit. If you have Content Hub and you do a lot of video, you do not automatically need another hosting platform. Check it out if you have not recently.
