What we think
Look at what earned a "major update" tag here and it isn't the flashiest ship. Primary ID Preservation for Merged Records got that tag because Chris found the problem it fixes by accident — he ran a merge through the HubSpot MCP and Claude told him, as an aside, that the two records now had different IDs. His take names the real cost: "Silent ID churn is the reason teams decided a HubSpot integration was too hard to maintain and never built one."
The Payments Account Public READ API earns the same read for the same reason — the useful case there isn't a person double-checking their own setup, it's an outside system asking whether the portal is ready before it acts, and the take put it plainly: "Anything that lets an integration verify state instead of assuming it removes a class of silent failure, which is the kind of failure that surfaces weeks later as a support ticket nobody can reproduce." Webhooks in custom agents landed the same week custom agents started consuming credits, and the take called the timing exactly right: "A capability expansion and a pricing change landing in the same week is not a coincidence." Put those beside Describe an app, deploy it to your portal — a page built live on air, reading real CRM data under the builder's own permissions — where the take frames it as infrastructure, not a feature: "For anyone already building apps outside HubSpot, there is now an infrastructure to build them directly into HubSpot instead."
The pattern holds: HubSpot is handing agents and builders more reach into a live portal at the same time it ships the guardrails — stable IDs, verifiable state, metered actions — that make handing over that reach survivable.
The marketplace side confirms it from the outside. When HubSpot shipped an agent for Microsoft 365 Copilot that brings CRM context into Teams and lets you act back in HubSpot from there, the takeaway wasn't a new integration to build — it was "But stuff like this is probably going to make it so a lot of integration building just starts to melt away."
