What Marketing Hub is, and what changed under it in 2026

You run Marketing Hub already and you're trying to work out what's actually different now, starting with what "campaign" stopped meaning.

If you have five minutes

  • On air, discussing Campaign Automations: New Triggers, Actions & Reporting (private beta, 2026-08-18), Casey Hawkins and Chris Carolan named the actual problem this Hub has been building around all year: "The bigger problem this update runs into is the word campaign. Most people hear it and think email send. HubSpot uses it to mean a parent container holding an entire strategy and every asset in it, and that gap is why the object stays underused."
  • That is not a complaint about naming. It is the reason a Marketing Hub operator can use Campaigns every week and still be running it as a folder for email sends.

The word campaign is doing two jobs, and nobody told you which one

On air, discussing Campaign Automations: New Triggers, Actions & Reporting (private beta, 2026-08-18), Casey Hawkins and Chris Carolan named the actual problem this Hub has been building around all year:

"The bigger problem this update runs into is the word campaign. Most people hear it and think email send. HubSpot uses it to mean a parent container holding an entire strategy and every asset in it, and that gap is why the object stays underused."

That is not a complaint about naming. It is the reason a Marketing Hub operator can use Campaigns every week and still be running it as a folder for email sends. HubSpot's own description of a Campaign — the container for an entire strategy, every asset inside it, the whole push behind an event like a conference or a launch — has been true since before this year's updates. What changed in 2026 is what got built around that container: automation, cloning, associations, and the tool where the container actually gets assembled.

The Campaigns object, in one screen

Campaign (the object)
A parent container meant to hold an entire strategy and every asset inside it, not a single send. Confirmed on air discussing Campaign Automations: New Triggers, Actions & Reporting (private beta, 2026-08-18): "The campaign for an event like Unbound is the whole strategy of going to that event... plus your Q1 goals and your 2026 and 2027 budget conversations, is what this object was designed to hold."
Campaign asset types
Roughly 28 asset types can now associate to a campaign, spanning marketing, sales and service objects. The influenced-by-campaign trigger fires on any interaction with any of them (Campaign Automations: New Triggers, Actions & Reporting, private beta, 2026-08-18).
Campaign cloning
Clone a past campaign, including its assets, instead of rebuilding it from a spreadsheet or a separate budgeting tool. Live as of 2026-07-30 (Campaign API: Cloning and Asset Type Endpoints). How deep the clone actually goes — full or partial, and across how many of the 28 asset types — was still an open question when Chris raised it on air.
Associating people and companies with a campaign
Two public-beta updates, both dated 2026-07-01: Associate Companies with a Campaign and Associate Leads with a Campaign. Neither carries a recorded take.
Breeze Assistant reading campaign data
Live since 2026-05-13 (Breeze Assistant Can Now Access Campaign Data). No recorded take.

Marketing Studio: where the container actually gets built

Two Studio Redesign updates shipped together on 2026-07-16, both live: Onboarding Tour and Copy and Paste Nodes. Casey's take treated them as one story, not two features:

"Touched at time on the show alongside the copy-and-paste update: Studio now has an onboarding tour for new users. Paired together, these are Marketing Studio settling in and getting the usability polish a daily-driver tool needs."

That is the pattern worth noticing: neither update is a headline feature. Both are the plumbing a tool needs once people are actually in it every day, which is itself evidence about how central Studio has become. Two more Studio-adjacent updates carry no take: Marketing Studio: Chat to Plan Your Campaign (private beta, 2026-05-12) and Unified Marketing Asset Management (private beta, 2026-06-30, confirmed Studio-adjacent by its own description: "It lives inside Marketing Studio").

The clearest evidence that Studio and Campaigns are becoming one story, not two, is what is happening to Marketing Control Center. Casey had talked directly with the product manager behind it:

"This one came up off-script, and Casey had the inside line, because she had just talked with Ankur, the product manager behind Marketing Control Center and a friend of the show who joined when it was first announced. The tool is not disappearing so much as moving. Its capabilities are being folded into the Breeze chat experience rather than kept as a separate destination... The bigger thread is consolidation. When updates come out of campaigns, and then you see teamwork moving the same direction, the natural question is why they are not built together."

Marketing Control Center is filed as upcoming sunset. Nothing in it disappears — it moves into Breeze Assistant, alongside Studio and Campaigns, which is the same direction Casey's feedback to HubSpot's product team had already pointed.

What else changed under Marketing Hub in 2026

Not every update this year runs through Campaigns or Studio. This is the rest of what shipped, cross-referenced to its own status and date, so a claim here never outruns the record.

Where to next

Where this comes from

  • Campaign Automations: New Triggers, Actions & Reporting, on this show. private beta, 2026-08-18 — the take by Casey Hawkins and Chris Carolan behind the naming gap, the roughly 28 associable asset types and the influenced-by-campaign trigger
  • Campaign API: Cloning and Asset Type Endpoints, on this show. live, 2026-07-30 — Chris Carolan on campaign cloning, and the open question of how deep the clone goes
  • Studio Redesign: Onboarding Tour and Copy and Paste Nodes, on this show. both live, 2026-07-16 — Casey Hawkins reading the two as one story rather than two features
  • Marketing Control Center, on this show. upcoming sunset, coverage 2026-05-13 through 2026-07-17 — Casey Hawkins on the fold into Breeze Assistant, sourced from a direct conversation with the product manager behind it
  • The other Marketing Hub updates of 2026. every row of the table above is its own written-up record on this show, carrying the status and the date that record itself carries

What we do not know yet

  • Five Campaigns-object and Marketing-Studio updates carry no on-air take at all: Associate Companies with a Campaign, Associate Leads with a Campaign, Breeze Assistant Can Now Access Campaign Data, Marketing Studio: Chat to Plan Your Campaign, and Unified Marketing Asset Management. They are real, shipped (or beta) features named here plainly — nobody on the show has gone on record about them yet.
  • How deep campaign cloning actually goes — a full clone of all ~28 associable asset types, or a partial one finished by hand — was an open question raised on air and not yet answered.
  • The show covered Marketing Studio's shape once before this year's updates, in Let's Build A HubSpot Super Admin with Lucila Abal (2025-10-10) — a pointer, not summarized here, since it was found by title and description only and not read.
  • Lead-scoring practice generally has its own dedicated archive — the Value-First Scoring show's full run — which is real material for Rule Insights, the Lead Scoring Public API and Discover-and-Score-High-Impact-Events, but general practice rather than specific to any one of this year's features, and not read beyond title here.
