HubSpot Updates: July 1, 2026

Seven updates landed July 1, and the through-line is connective tissue. Most of the batch is about what connects to what, and what your AI can see: campaigns pick up two new association types, meetings finally follow the association rules you already set, lifecycle stages get real guardrails, and Context Home opens a place to hand HubSpot the background it has been missing. There is an ad-image generator in here too, plus a terms-of-service notice worth a glance.

If you watched the show today, you already heard the conversation around several of these. If you did not: Watch the recap to hear our thoughts on these updates and more.

Platform Updates Detailed

Context Home: Custom Context with Free-Form Text and File Uploads

Context Home has a new section, and it is the kind of thing you notice once and then wonder how you worked without it. Under the Breeze menu, in Context, there is now a custom area where you can type free-form text or upload files directly. Every user can add context to their own personal Context Home, and admins get the additional ability to set context at the portal level, so a brand guide or a product one-pager becomes part of what Breeze reads across the account. This is live across all hubs and tiers.

Why it matters: The more HubSpot understands about how your business actually works, the more useful Breeze gets, and until now there was no clean home for the context that did not fit the standard brand or knowledge-base fields. This is where the odd but important stuff goes: the thing you kept meaning to write down, the file living in three other tools, the seasonality or the positioning that shapes everything. If you are moving from another AI tool into Breeze and it feels like HubSpot does not know you yet, this is the fix. Ask whatever tool you already use to draft a context doc, drop it in, and let it fill the gap.

Automatic Associations for Meetings

Meetings created in HubSpot or synced into it now follow the automatic association rules you set, wherever the meeting came from. Before this, only meetings created directly in the CRM followed those rules. Meetings booked through scheduling pages or pulled in through a calendar sync fell back to HubSpot's default activity associations, which is not always what you want. Now any meeting that shows up in HubSpot, whether created in the CRM, booked on a scheduling page, or synced from an external calendar, respects the same rules. This is live across all hubs and tiers. The rules themselves live in settings under objects, activities, and associations, and are worth a look if you have never opened them.

Why it matters: If you have ever logged a meeting and watched it attach itself to old deals for no obvious reason, this is the reason, and this is the correction. The default behavior can quietly log a meeting to the five most recently associated open deals, which looks like noise the first time you catch it. Bringing scheduling-page and calendar-synced meetings under your own rules means the associations Breeze reads from are the ones you chose, not a default you never saw. Small update, real payoff for data quality.

Google Performance Max Ad Image Generation

HubSpot now uses Google AI to auto-generate ad-ready images during Performance Max campaign creation. Enter a landing page URL and you get landscape, square, and portrait variants, with no manual sourcing or resizing, and you can regenerate if the first pass misses. This is in private beta, and the surprising part is the reach: it is available to all HubSpot users, not gated behind a Marketing Enterprise tier the way you might expect.

Why it matters: Finding images that meet Google's required dimensions is one of the most tedious friction points in PMax setup, the kind of task teams used to hand to a freelancer to spin a single asset into twenty different sizes. Handing that to AI and getting publish-ready variants in under a minute is a good use of the technology, the boring-but-real kind that saves an afternoon. One practical note on private beta: access windows can fill fast, so if you want in, request it while you are thinking about it rather than later.

Associate Leads with a Campaign

Leads are now a first-class associated object on the Campaign object. You can manually add leads to a campaign, which turns on campaign tracking across the Leads experience and surfaces lead-influenced campaigns on the deal and contact records those leads connect to. Leads can be added from the sidebar, including bulk actions and the lead creation flow, and they pre-populate from a contact's existing campaign associations. Contacts and deals have been associatable to campaigns for a while now, and leads were the single most requested addition since; this is that gap getting filled. Available for Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise, in public beta.

Why it matters: For B2B, ABM, and sales-led teams who live in the Leads experience, this is the missing piece for campaign attribution across that motion. The part worth watching is reporting. A single contact can be tied to multiple leads if they showed interest more than once, so being able to ask how many leads a campaign generated is a different, sharper question than how many contacts it touched. Paired with the newer data visualization work in campaign reporting, this is the kind of thing that could make campaigns worth another look for anyone who wrote them off over reporting gaps.

Associate Companies with a Campaign

Campaigns now support associations with Company records too. You can link a company to a campaign from either direction, from the association panel on the campaign details page or from the campaign section on a company record's sidebar. This is a manual association at the moment, which is arguably the point for account-based work. Available for Marketing Hub Professional and Enterprise, in public beta.

Why it matters: B2B teams need to measure campaign impact at the account level, and without company associations it is hard to report on which target accounts a campaign actually reached. The manual piece is a feature for ABM: instead of letting HubSpot guess which companies are involved, you tell it from the start which accounts you are targeting. That closes the distance between campaign performance and the CRM account data you already trust.

Pipeline Rules for Contacts and Companies

You can now set pipeline rules for contact and company lifecycle stages, the same kind of rules already available for deals, tickets, leads, and custom objects. You can define which stages a record can be created in, whether stages can be skipped, and whether a record can move backward. Alongside it, a general enhancement lands for every object type with pipelines: admins can now set the default stage a record is created in. That default-stage control is the new piece this round, and it applies well beyond contacts and companies. Available for Professional and Enterprise tiers, in public beta.

Why it matters: These are guardrails for data quality, and the honest framing is that they are really lifecycle-stage rules, since the lifecycle stages are the pipeline of a contact or company. Preventing records from skipping critical stages or being created in the wrong phase is what keeps conversion rates and stage reporting trustworthy. Not every company wants records to start in the same place, and the new default-stage setting is what makes that controllable instead of assumed. For a portal-level look at how these guardrails behave in practice, our show conversation on pipeline rules for contacts and companies walks through it: how lifecycle-stage guardrails play out in a real portal.

Key Takeaways and Next Steps

Associations are the quiet theme: Five of these seven updates are about what connects to what. Leads and companies join campaigns, meetings come under the rules you set, and lifecycle stages get guardrails. This is not glamorous work, but it is the work that matters most for anyone leaning on Breeze, because the associations you define are exactly what the AI reads from when it tries to make sense of your portal. Get them right and it has something to work with. Get them wrong and it is working from noise.

Context is now something you hand over, not something HubSpot has to guess: Between Context Home custom context and the Performance Max image generation, the pattern is HubSpot doing more when you give it more. The action item is small and worth doing this week: put your brand guide, your positioning, and the business context that lives in your head or in other tools into Context Home. Every Breeze interaction after that starts from a better place.

Campaigns are worth a second look for B2B and ABM teams: If campaign reporting gaps pushed you away from the tool, the combination of lead and company associations plus the newer visualization work is starting to close the gaps that made attribution feel incomplete. It is a reasonable moment to test campaigns again on a real account motion rather than take last year's verdict as final.
