A new look for the marketing email editor

What it is
A redesigned marketing email editor. The sidebar collapses to an icon strip so the email fills the canvas, editing tools float over the content, and a persistent action bar keeps A and B testing, preview, test sends, and desktop and mobile toggles one click away instead of buried in menus.
Why it matters
Designing an email has meant fighting for screen space against a sidebar, header, toolbar, and settings panel all at once, which means more time navigating than designing. Collapsing the chrome and pinning the actions you actually reach for puts the email itself back at the center.
The Take
Madelyn Donovan
It's a lot of guessing where you're supposed to access a setting that we know exists.
HubSpot redesigned this editor not that long ago, which is exactly what made the room pause on it. The read on the show: this looks like a response to feedback that the last pass made things harder to find, not easier.
Madelyn's framing is the one worth keeping. The problem was never really the number of clicks. It was hunting for a setting you already know exists. A sidebar that collapses out of the way and an action bar that stays put are aimed straight at that, and it is a more honest fix than adding another panel.
Chris put the wider pattern around it. Canvas style controls are spreading across HubSpot in general. Once a surface carries this much complexity, cramming everything into a single sidebar stops working, and HubSpot has clearly noticed. When they find a layout they like, it tends to flow out to the rest of the system, so expect to see this shape again somewhere else.
What to do: nothing this week. It is private beta and HubSpot has not published a screenshot yet. If you are in the email editor daily, it is worth asking for beta access. Everyone else can wait. We will walk through it on air when it actually shows up.

FAQ
Do I need to do anything to get this?
No. It is in private beta, so access is granted by HubSpot. If you build emails daily it is worth asking your rep about the beta list.
Is this replacing the editor redesign from before?
It is a further revision of the same editor, not a different tool. Your existing emails and templates are unaffected.
Which tiers get it?
Marketing Hub Starter, Professional, and Enterprise.
