Rounded Corners and Border Enhancements in Marketing Email

What it is

Apply rounded corners and border styles directly to email sections in the drag-and-drop editor without touching code. The box layout option is being removed, as rounded corners and section borders now achieve the same effect with more flexibility.

Why it matters

Section styling was the visible gap in the email editor. Teams could customize almost everything except the sections themselves, which forced custom code or a compromise on brand.

The Take

Madelyn Donovan

That's the one thing that that email editor can't do.
Madelyn Donovan

This one was Madelyn's, and she did not hide it. Her account of the email editor is that people always ask what it can and cannot do, she always says you can do anything because it is a normal editor, and then she forgets every time that the sections are exactly the thing you cannot customize. Not the background color, not the text containers. That gap is what closes here.

Two caveats went on the record. The box layout option is removed from template design when you join the beta, so check that before you opt in. And Chris's standing reminder applies: Classic Outlook on Windows will render square corners regardless. His advice was to not lean so hard on the rounded corners that the email depends on them.
