Quote Template Migration Tool

Revenue HubProfessionalPublic beta

What it is

Admins can migrate a standard Legacy Quotes template to Commerce Hub Quotes, generating an editable template and a migration report in one flow. The limitation is the same as it has been: it only applies to standard templates that have not been edited in Design Manager or cloned into a custom version, and you need access to both Legacy Quotes and the current quotes. This is in public beta for Revenue Hub Professional and Enterprise.

Why it matters

Template rework is exactly what has kept teams parked on legacy quotes, so any migration path helps. The honest read is that it is a start with a real ceiling, because the teams most invested in quoting are the ones with customized templates that do not qualify. If your templates are stock, migrate now. If they are custom, treat this as a signal of direction more than a solution.

The Take

Chris Carolan

Quotes is probably a place that could add a lot of value really quickly for most organizations that are in or anywhere around Sales Hub. It's always surprising to me the amount of Sales Hub usage that does not include quotes.
— Chris Carolan

Chris and Trisha reached the same place from two directions, and Trisha was the one to press on the limit. After Chris read HubSpot's description, she asked whether she had it right: if a template has been customized, you still cannot migrate it. Chris said yes. Her first word was that it is a hit, Chris said it is a start, and she came back to say it might be a miss. The conditions HubSpot gave, as read on air: the template is a standard Legacy Quotes template that has not been edited in Design Manager or cloned into a custom version, and you need access to both Legacy Quotes and Commerce Hub Quotes. The tool produces an editable Commerce Hub quote template and a migration report in one flow.

Chris's reasoning is the part worth keeping. When HubSpot says something is time-consuming and manual, he reads that as: it does not happen. Teams do not do it, they just do not migrate. And people who have relied on what HubSpot gave them out of the box get asked to move and find they cannot use what they have been relying on, which means rework if they are going to move at all. So he is glad there is now an option, and he could see the rework getting in the way. His bigger point is that quotes are probably a place that can add a lot of value quickly for most organizations in or around Sales Hub. It surprises him how much Sales Hub usage does not include quotes, because teams brought Sales Hub in to track their deal pipelines.

What to do: if your Legacy Quotes templates are standard, never edited in Design Manager and never cloned, and you have access to both, this is the moment to migrate. It is in public beta for Professional and Enterprise. If your templates are customized, treat it as a sign of direction, not a way out of the rework. And if your Sales Hub portal is not using quotes at all, Chris's nudge is to look at why.
