Sales HubFreeStarterProfessionalEnterprisePublic beta

What it is

Users can log in the CRM that an email was sent without storing the email body. Public Beta, last updated October 14, 2026, for Sales Hub, all tiers.

Why it matters

Customers in sensitive industries need to record email activity for audits or tracking without exposing private content. This removes a blocker to Sales Hub adoption for healthcare, legal and other upmarket customers with strict privacy rules.

The Take

Zach Hussion

I'd argue that I don't think there are too many people who actually need this.
— Zach Hussion

I will say it plainly: I'd argue that I don't think there are too many people who actually need this. I would be surprised by how many portals opt in. What you get is a record that an email went out, on this date, to this person, with no idea what it was about. If you are a manager who loves vanity metrics, or you lean on a last activity date, I can see a reason or two. Beyond that, there is not a ton you can do with it.

But I can see who it is for. Legal, healthcare, maybe Department of Defense contracting. My attorneys have asked me over the years whether I want to record a conversation, and the answer is usually no, because it becomes discoverable. And I have lived the other side: a big client I parted ways with last year told me they were going back to Salesforce after a thirty day migration we crunched through, because of a security requirement that came up in an audit. Who knows, this could be the thing that lets a company like that say we are okay. That is their problem to solve now, not mine.

Chris came at it from the AI side, and it is worth sitting with. If you want help from AI, it needs to see more than a note that something was sent to me. His question was how much more protected your Outlook or Gmail inbox is than HubSpot, and he said that if the redaction is a baby step that lets a team start using HubSpot at all, get it in there, then ask what the point of storing the email is now. "Somebody please ask that question."

Who should act: Sales Hub admins in regulated industries who were told no to logging email because of body content. Who can skip it: almost everyone else.

FAQ

What does a redacted email body log?

Per HubSpot, you can log in the CRM that an email was sent without storing the email body. On the show, the takeaway was that you see an email was sent on a date to a person, but not what it said.

Who is this for?

HubSpot positions it for customers in sensitive industries that need to record email activity for audits or tracking, and says it removes a blocker to Sales Hub adoption for healthcare, legal and other upmarket customers with strict privacy rules. It is a Public Beta for Sales Hub, all tiers.

Does this make HubSpot compliant for something like a Department of Defense audit?

HubSpot has not said that, and neither did we. On the show, Zach shared that a past client left HubSpot after a security requirement came up in an audit, and said this could be the kind of thing that helps a company like that, but whether it is enough is theirs to check against their own requirements.
