What Data Hub is, and what changed in 2026, for someone working it out
You run HubSpot already, you are not sure your data is trustworthy yet, and you are trying to work out what Data Hub actually holds and what changed this year.
If you have five minutes
- Data Hub is where HubSpot decides four things about the data already sitting in your portal: how it gets in, which record survives when two describe the same person, what leaves for a warehouse or a BI stack, and what a single property is allowed to answer.
- Its center is Data Studio, and this year most of the movement is there.
What Data Hub actually holds
Data Hub is where HubSpot decides four things about the data already sitting in your portal: how it gets in, which record survives when two describe the same person, what leaves for a warehouse or a BI stack, and what a single property is allowed to answer. Its center is Data Studio, and this year most of the movement is there.
- Data Studio, the intake layer
- Webhook Data Sources in Data Studio (public beta, first covered on the show 2026-06-30) lets a webhook feed a data source the same way a file upload does. Data Sources File Ingestion API for Data Studio and Data Sources API for Data Studio (both live) are the programmatic doors into the same thing.
- Flagging a duplicate, and deciding who wins
- These shipped as two separate 2026 releases, not one feature wearing two names. Create Custom Rules to Manage Duplicate Records (public beta, first covered 2026-05-27) is what decides two records describe the same person in the first place. Merge Rules | Winning Record Rules (public beta, first covered 2026-08-06) is what decides which one survives once they are flagged.
- What a warehouse sync costs
- Credit Consumption Updates for Data Warehouse CRM Syncs via Data Studio (live, first covered 2026-08-03) redrew where credits get charged.
- What leaves HubSpot
- Amazon S3 Data Out (public beta, no air date on the show's record for this one) added the ability to watch an export run instead of hoping it did.
- What one property can answer
- Calculated Properties With Enumeration Outputs (live) lets a calculated property return one of a fixed set of labels rather than only a number.
Operations Hub folded into this one
HubSpot folded Operations Hub into Data Hub this year. If you came looking for Operations Hub, this is now the page.
The take on the record
"it was either too much too many spreadsheets to import to HubSpot for HubSpot's brain to handle all at once or it was too much for my brain to handle to figure out how to configure it for HubSpot's brain" — Madelyn Donovan, on Smart Duplicate Handling in Multi-Object Imports (live), first covered August 28, 2026

What HubSpot's own dates do and do not tell you
Of the updates filed under Data Hub, only one carries a HubSpot-populated release date: Poll an API to Ingest and Automate Data from Any Tool (private beta), dated 2026-09-04. Every other date named above and below is when the show first covered the update on air, not when HubSpot actually shipped it. Treat "first covered" as a discussion date, not a release date.
The archive behind this Hub
Chris named two shows as the standing source for this pillar: Value-First Data (since October 2025) and Value-First Platform: AI Data Readiness (since August 2025). Neither has been read episode by episode for this draft; what follows are pointers to specific episodes by title and date, not summaries of what was said in them.
- Value-First Data covered "Value-First Data — The Curation Engine: Why the Surface Isn't the Value" on 2026-06-09.
- Value-First Data covered "Value-First Data — AI Data Readiness: From Captured to Available" on 2026-06-30 (scheduled on the record).
- Value-First Platform: AI Data Readiness covered "AI Data Readiness Part 4: What Leaders Must Do Before Anyone Touches AI" on 2026-03-03 (scheduled on the record).
- Let's Unbox covered "HubSpot Data Model Builder with Maggie Mirskey" on 2025-04-24.
- Let's Unbox covered "A HubSpot Customer Data Model with Jeff Vincent" on 2025-06-27.
Where to next
Where this comes from
- Smart Duplicate Handling in Multi-Object Imports, the show's own take. Madelyn Donovan and Chris Carolan on the record; first covered August 28, 2026
- The HubSpot Updates records filed under Data Hub. Webhook Data Sources, the two Data Studio APIs, the duplicate and merge rules, the credit change, Amazon S3 Data Out and calculated properties with enumeration outputs — every status and first-covered date read from the record
- The Value-First Data and Value-First Platform: AI Data Readiness archives. named by episode title and date only; not read episode by episode for this door
What we do not know yet
- HubSpot's own release-date field is populated on exactly one of the records tied to this Hub. Every other date on this page marks when the show discussed a feature, not when HubSpot shipped it.
- The Value-First Data and Value-First Platform: AI Data Readiness archives have not been read beyond title and date for this door. The pointers above name what exists; they do not report what was said.
- Each of this Hub's own takes has a fuller recap article on this site than the condensed take quoted here. Those recaps have not been read in full for this draft.
