Revenue Hub · the round-up

Revenue Hub, in the time it takes to answer the question.

A page to pull from rather than to read. Each topic below is one short clip with the people who built the product or run it, one line on why it matters, and one line you can use when the question lands on you — in a deal, in a ticket, or in the meeting where somebody asks why the deal record cannot answer it.

The view the CEO and CFO get

Cash, commitments and renewals on one screen

Image slot: the executive dashboard shown on air on 2026-09-03, subscriptions from an external billing tool and a payment processor read in HubSpot, cash flow at the top.

Built with out-of-the-box HubSpot before Revenue Hub existed. Revenue Hub is that view arriving as a product.

Why it matters

Most companies see their pipeline in one system and their money — what got invoiced, paid and renewed — in another. Nobody sees the whole line from interest to cash, so sales and finance each hold half a picture. The people doing the wiring talk about integrations; the people running the business want to know whether cash will land, and when. Visibility is the bridge between those two conversations, and it is what a CEO and a CFO are buying. Revenue Hub closes that line inside the CRM the business already has, which is why it is the last leg of the HubSpot story rather than a separate product. Under all of it is the data model: what you sell, on what terms, changed how. Those decisions come before any configuration, and they are the work.

The topics

  1. 1 of 6

    Executive visibility

The people who talk to the customer cannot see what finance already sees. Fixing that does not mean moving the source of truth or touching finance's process.

Why the workaround never produced a trusted number

  2. 2 of 6

    CPQ

The quote is where the contract's clock starts: the effective date is decided there, and a change quote amends an agreement instead of rebuilding it. Change quotes update recurring lines only, so one-time work, change orders and milestones added after signature live on their own quote. That matters most for project and milestone-billed businesses, and a seller who says it first keeps the customer's trust.

A four-minute segment; no one-minute cut exists yet for quoting.

Say thisThe quote isn't paperwork. It sets the terms every later record inherits.

    The decisions the quote inherits

  3. 3 of 6

    Billing

Issuing invoices from HubSpot turns the portal into a financial system. It is optional, set per contract, and most customers should start by holding the agreement and leaving billing where it is.

Say thisMigrating the contract is not the same as migrating the business.

Term of record or billing migration: two projects that share a name

  4. 4 of 6

    Payments

Cash is the number the CFO loses sleep over, and it is the one furthest from the CRM today. Payment links, checkout, and a payments account the rest of the stack can read.

No episode has covered payments yet. This card carries the updates and their takes until one does.

Say thisAsk who sees the cash land today, and how long after the invoice they find out.

What to say to the person who owns the ledger

  5. 5 of 6

    Contracts

The agreement as a record: what was committed, on what term, renewing how, and every change since. It locks at creation, which is what makes the number trustworthy.

Say thisSpeed, visibility, control. That's the whole pitch, from the person who runs the product.

What the agreement record holds that the proxy cannot

  6. 6 of 6

    Product library and line items

Everything downstream copies the product library: the quote, the contract, the invoice. A line item is a copy, not a link, so the catalog is the least reversible thing in the system.

Say thisThe atomic parts start at your product library. Get that right and the rest inherits it.

Why the product library goes first

The one to watch

A customer changed their own contract, signed it, and the platform did the rest

A buyer logs in, sees their own agreement, adjusts a quantity, and is routed to a change quote for signature. On acceptance HubSpot updates the contract, cancels competing open changes, voids the superseded invoice and rebills. No rep touched it. The checkpoint finance worries about losing became a signature, a stronger audit trail than the manual process it replaced.

Say thisYour customer can renew or expand without a rep in the loop, and finance gets a signed record instead of an email.

When someone asks you this

Ten things you will hear, and what to send back

Every one of these was said out loud — in HubSpot’s own admin session, on the show, or by the people running the product. Each row says where.

  1. 1What do I actually pay for with Revenue Hub?Open

Say thisOnly the people who send quotes need a Revenue Hub seat. Price books, billing, payments and the reporting do not put a seat on everyone. Terms move, so check the live pricing when you scope.

Where it was heard: Asked by an admin at HubSpot's own Contracts Admin HUG, 2026-06-25; answered on air by HubSpot's product team.

  2. 2So all of my sales reps need a Sales Hub seat and a Revenue Hub seat?Open

Say thisNo. The reps and the renewals team who send quotes need one. The rest work the records without it.

Where it was heard: A LinkedIn comment read aloud at the 2026-06-25 Admin HUG; HubSpot's answer: no, whoever sends quotes, and in their data about forty percent of reps end up with one.

  3. 3Does contracts require a seat?Open

Say thisContracts do not need a seat, and you no longer need a quote to make one. That was the real barrier, and it is gone.

Where it was heard: Asked in the chat at the 2026-06-25 Admin HUG; HubSpot said no and that direct create and edit was coming. It shipped 2026-08-21.

  4. 4I have legacy quotes. Why should I use this instead?Open

Say thisNobody is making you move. If you need approvals, price books or a change quote that amends the agreement instead of rebuilding it, that is what the new one is for.

Where it was heard: Asked at the 2026-06-25 Admin HUG; HubSpot's answer: legacy fits small teams with basic needs, the new system is for scaling teams, and nobody is being forced to move.

  5. 5I just want to see my MRR six months out.Open

Say thisThat report now sits on the contract: what was booked, what is committed, and how it moved through expansions, contractions and renewals.

Where it was heard: What HubSpot's billing PM said always came up on customer calls in the subscriptions era; on air, Let's Unbox 2026-08-04.

Chris Carolan · Another Orange Morning - Sep 1, 2026 · Open · copy the link
  6. 6Here's a spreadsheet, just plug it in and cut over.Open

Say thisThe import is the last step. Product library, contract grain and which system keeps the ledger come first, or the record lands and nobody trusts it.

Where it was heard: How most people hear the word migration, in Chris Carolan's words on air, Let's Unbox 2026-08-04; the PM's reply is the clip.

Joe Warren · Unboxing Revenue Hub - Contracts & Billing · Open · copy the link
  7. 7I have some deals, I have some subscriptions. Why do I need a contract?Open

Say thisSubscriptions are one shape of agreement. The contract holds the recurring, the one-time and every change in one record.

Where it was heard: The operator's own situation, said on air, Let's Unbox 2026-09-03, 10:09; the PM's answer is the clip.

  8. 8Our ERP owns the money. We're not moving billing.Open

Say thisYou don't have to. HubSpot can hold the agreement and leave billing exactly where it is. That is the reversible version, and where most people should start.

Where it was heard: The standing objection in any finance room; the answer on air, Let's Unbox 2026-09-03, is that migrating to contracts is a real choice, not all or nothing.

    7:22
Arun Gunari · Unboxing HubSpot Revenue Hub: Contracts · Open · copy the link
  9. 9Why not just put it all on the deal?Open

Say thisBecause the deal ends and the relationship does not. The contract carries the term, the renewal and every change.

Where it was heard: Chris Carolan's answer to it on air, Let's Unbox 2026-09-03, 57:41.

  10. 10What does a contract actually give me that I don't have?Open

Say thisA live record of the whole relationship: committed revenue, the term, the renewal date, and what changed since, on one object.

Where it was heard: Answered by HubSpot's director of product for Revenue Hub on air, Let's Unbox 2026-09-03, 08:40.
